Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are fundamental in quality management and continuous improvement of business processes. Corrective actions (CA) eliminate the cause of a non-conformity that has already occurred, while preventive actions (PA) aim to prevent problems before they occur. The CAPA process consists of six main steps: problem identification, root cause analysis, action definition, implementation, effectiveness verification and continuous monitoring. An effective CAPA system brings numerous benefits, such as improved product quality, cost reduction, increased customer satisfaction, process efficiency, risk reduction, promotion of a culture of continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
